Cherisse Kovacs, MC
Registered Psychologist
My name is Cherisse Kovacs, and I am a Registered Psychologist. I graduated with a Master's of Counselling from Athabasca University in 2020. Prior to entering into the field of psychology, I was a Social Worker and spent most of my career working directly with children, youth, and families. As a therapist, I assist individuals (6+) struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, grief, and anger. I have experience helping individuals overcome challenges related to managing multiple life stressors (i.e., parenting and relationship issues; difficulties finding work/life balance; caring for aging parents; etc.). I also have experience working with individuals struggling with ADHD and emotional regulation issues.
My approach as a therapist is client-centred, solution-focused, and relationship based. I believe you are the expert in your own life. The alliance we form together in therapy can assist you to work through presenting issues, helping you to work toward reaching your individual potential. If you have questions about therapy, feel free to book a complimentary 10-minute consultation and inquire about the therapeutic process. I would be happy to connect with you and discuss your goals in therapy.
Cherisse works out of the WPS Sherwood Park office and is currently accepting new clients.

Alya (Alexis) Ilithyia Serghanuk, M.Sc.
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Who I Work With
I support adolescents (15+) and adults of all ages navigating life’s challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic health concerns, and struggles with self-esteem, identity, and body image. I work with individuals of all genders, helping them process difficult emotions, manage stress, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether you're experiencing mood disruptions, relationship difficulties, or the impact of major life transitions, I provide a compassionate space for healing and growth.
My Counseling Approach
I take an integrative approach, combining evidence-based cognitive therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with somatic-focused techniques informed by mindfulness and polyvagal theory. This dual approach helps us explore both the cognitive and physiological aspects of distress while strengthening the mind-body connection. Over time, you will develop greater emotional regulation, reshape unhelpful thought patterns, and foster a deeper, more meaningful connection with yourself.
